सिद्धं सत्सम्प्रदाये स्थिरधियमनघं श्रोत्रियं ब्रह्मनिष्ठं
सत्वस्थं सत्यवाचं समयनियतया साधुवृत्त्या समेतम्।
दम्भासूयादिमुक्तं जितविषयगणं दीर्घबन्धुं दयालुं
स्खालित्ये शासितारं स्वपरहितपरं देशिकं भूष्णुरिप्सेत् ॥
“He who seeks the guidance of a true Master should seek one firmly rooted in the sacred tradition—steadfast in wisdom, pure in character, learned in the Vedas, and established in the Supreme Truth. Truthful in speech, disciplined in conduct, free from pride and envy, master of the senses, ever compassionate, a lifelong benefactor to all, gently correcting those who falter, and ever devoted to the welfare of all.”

Brahmasri R. Venkatrama Salakshana Ghanapatigal.
He was a Srotriya and Brahmanistha of the highest order – a Salakshana Ghanapati honored with several prestigious awards including the Rashtrapati Puraskar.
Inspite of such a formidable stature, he remained completely Dambha-Muktah, entirely devoid of academic or spiritual ego, living a life of pristine simplicity.
He had ample opportunities to leverage his staggering mastery over the Ghana recitation for material opulence, global commercial platforms, or personal luxury. Yet, the seeds of desire found no soil in his consciousness. Refusing to treat the eternal sound of the Veda as a transactional commodity, he established his Patasala under intense financial strain, anchoring his mind purely in Veda Rakshana as a direct offering to the Divine.
He was, in the truest scriptural sense, a Deergha-bandhu – a lifelong guardian, mentor, and father figure to his vidyarthis. He cared for every disciple with the same unwavering affection, responsibility, and concern that he bestowed upon his own sons. His guidance extended far beyond the walls of the patasala. He nurtured them into adulthood, helped them establish stable family lives, guided them into marriage, and ensured they were firmly rooted in the values of the sat-sampradaya, enabling them to carry its sacred and unbroken lineage forward.
Though he now guides us from the eternal realm, the divine flame he lit continues to burn through his disciples.
